Fall 2009 Update

Sponsorships Completed For First Six "TOHO" Girls!!

Sponsorships for all six girls living in the first Tapestry Orphan Home have just been secured thanks to the generous hearts and contributions of a number of sponsors! The three-bedroom, one-bath house which the girls and their housemother, Noma, now call "home" was built, furnished and dedicated in just five days in July as part of a Tapestry Homes and Threads Africa mission trip to Kayamandi, South Africa, a squatter community of 30,000 people living in desperate housing conditions just outside of Cape Town.

The joy of living in the Tapestry Orphan Home can only be summed up by the testamonies of the girls themselves! To have a place to study, a place to share meals, a place to be safe and secure from abuse, a place to grow into beautiful young ladies and to experience Christ's love is what living here is all about! Keep on reading, as Esethu shares in her own words just what living in the Tapestry Orphan Home means to her!

Esethu Shares Her New Life

"I feel like I'm a total new person. Before I used to feel lonely and empty inside and I had anger inside of me. I don't know where it came from. Moving into the Tapestry Home has made a huge difference and changes my life. I have made lots of friends and met new people and they mean a lot to me. We learn a lot from each other. Staying here has brought me closer to God. I always felt lonely and unloved but after I have moved in here all of that has changed. I thank God for that."

Sponsorships Kicked-Off For TOHO #2!

The need for sponsorships is so great, due to over 40% of the residents in Kayamandi being HIV positive, which results in many children being left without parents or relatives and in many cases, TOTALLY abandoned! There is an ever increasing need for "safe" housing for young, teenage girls living in high-risk situations with daily exposure to physical and emotional abuse. Tapestry Homes and Threads Africa have kicked-off their sponsorship campaign for the next six girls who will be living in the second Tapestry Orphan Home. We will build TOHO #2 as part of a missions trip in July 2010. Sponsoring a girl not only provides them with the most basic of human needs and education, but sponsorship brings hope to their soul and showers them with the love of Christ.

Will you please join us by helping to sponsor these next six girls and share this opportunity with your family members and friends? You can be a part of helping to take away those "empty, lonely and unloved feelings" that Esethu described above. Imagine your life being enriched as you walk alongside one of the girls on their journey. . .your heart will melt! Consider adding the sponsorship of a young girl in your name to your Christmas list. A complete sponsorship costs $120 per month for each girl, which provides basic living expenses including food, clothing, schooling, transportation, counseling and discipleship. You can join with others in sponsoring a girl for as little as $30 per month. For more information on how to sponsor a girl, please click here.

Also, we invite you to consider joining us on the July 2010 missions trip where you will be able to meet your sponsored girl, help build and furnish the Tapestry Orphan Home, and pray over these beautiful girls as you join the team in welcoming them into their new home. Our team is quickly forming, so if you wish to receive information about the trip, send an email to Dave Coen, Threads Africa Team Leader click here.

Touch a heart and change a life forever.

Blessings,
Cliff and Rose
